5 Tips to Create Facebook Ads That Convert

I've generated over $24 Million in sales from paid traffic. The ads were created on Facebook, Instagram, Google, Pinterest and TikTok. Not all platforms create the same volume of sales, but each platform is important in the marketing strategy.

That sales figure may not seem as exciting at first glance but I'm a one-woman show. Along with managing my own ads and businesses, I also partner with a small number of brands working as a Fractional CMO. In the past year alone, I have managed the campaigns for these brands that have brought in over $1.4 Million in sales.

Revenue growth and higher profit margins are two key goals. Both of these metrics can be achieved in a few ways with paid traffic being a top priority. One of these brands has grown by 1444% since we began working together. Another brand grew from nothing to 8-figures in 3 years time.

WHICH FACEBOOK ADS ARE MOST EFFECTIVE?

The campaigns used for each brand may vary slightly depending on their goals. While many ecommerce brands focus on the sales goal, there are other campaign types that help lower your cost per purchase. In a sea of advertisers, it's my job to find the right message, offer and creative that will resonate with the audience.

Growing too fast can cause chaos and headaches for small businesses. There is NOTHING worse than pausing a campaign because the warehouse can't keep up with the high order volume. Been there done that and still have the battle scars to prove it. 😀

OPERATIONAL SCALABILITY IN BUSINESS IS KEY FOR LONG-TERM SUCCESS

These few occurrences are why I'm fanatical about systems, processes, automation and training. I put on my Fractional COO hat to identify solutions for potential barriers that may sidetrack growth. So before anything actually happens, each contributor knows what SOP to follow if something goes sideways. Operational efficiencies are key for profit, but it's especially critical when you're scaling a business.

SUCCESSFUL FACEBOOK ADS STRATEGY

There are so many pieces to managing a profitable account and running a profitable campaign. Along with these Facebook and Instagram ad strategies that work, here's a few other tips to consider for your ads:

WARM TRAFFIC IS EASY

You will hear warm, cold, top of funnel, and all these other terms when you listen to marketers. Warm means someone who already has a connection to your brand. It can be an easy win to run an ad with your email list to get people who like your Facebook page that aren't on your list currently.

SIMILAR BRANDS MAKE SENSE

Think about it, if you like TJ Maxx, you probably also like Home Goods. Both are discount home and fashion retailers. If those brands align with your ideal audience interest then try to target those pages when you run ads. Some pages are not available for targeting, which is where this next tip is important.

SIMILAR INTERESTS ARE THE NEXT BEST THING

If you cannot target the page of TJ Maxx, then what types of things would your audience be interested? Maybe it's thrifting, or couponing, or cleaning? The sky is the limit here and there's likely an interest you can select when creating a campaign!

LOOKALIKE AUDIENCES STILL WORK

And you don't get many gifts from Facebook so take it and don't ask questions! When you have people who convert on an ad, you can eventually create audiences that are similar to all of those people who signed up or bought from you. The AI knows who wants what better than we do!

FOLLOW THEM IN A NON-CREEPY BIG BROTHER WAY

I have to laugh hearing my non-marketer friends talking about how “they” are listening. I'm always like, um, DUH! It is an advantage for us to be able to tell Facebook we want to show certain ads to people who were on certain pages or our sites in general. It's not like we're gonna lock them in a box when we find them or anything.

DON'T OVERCOMPLICATE META ADS

I feel like most people overcomplicate Facebook ads. I was one of those people a few years ago. These are basic tips, but they work well.

Ultimately, you need to know *who* you want to attract. Once you know that, use the right words, product offers and creatives (image or video) in your ads. When you find an ad that really converts, scale it until it stops performing.
